Man Accused Of Abducting His Children Surrenders To Police

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Rodney Copeland Jr., accused of abducting his four children from their mother, surrendered to police Wednesday night.

RELATED STORIES:

Copeland allegedly abducted his four children on May 24 on Carson Street in McKees Rocks after getting into a fight with their mother.

He later dropped them off at their grandfather's home, and then took off.

"I was real shocked when I heard the alert," said Rodney Copeland Sr. last week. "Like I said, my phone was buzzing when I heard it. I looked at my phone and I said, 'What?' I see my son and the kids [missing]. I said, 'We got to rectify this.' He never kidnapped them, it was never a kidnapping."

All four child were unharmed.

The SUV of Copeland's former girlfriend was later found in Bellevue, but he was on the run until turning himself in.

Police say Copeland faces charges of assaulting his former girlfriend and endangering the welfare of children.
