1 Person Killed In Bicycle Crash In Ligonier Township

LIGONIER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A bicyclist was killed Tuesday morning when he was struck by a car in Westmoreland County.

The crash happened just after 9 a.m. on Route 30 eastbound, near Shangri La Circle in Ligonier Township.

Authorities say the cyclist was on Route 30 when he was hit by a Chevrolet Malibu that was going uphill.

The Westmoreland County Officer of the Coroner said 38-year-old Jason R. Zollinger was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

Route 30 has reopened to traffic.
