Sean Parnell To Run For Congress Against Lamb, Pitting Two Vets Against Each Other

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)-- Republican Sean Parnell chose Fox & Friends on cable TV in New York to make his announcement.

"I'm declaring my candidacy for the great people of Pennsylvania's 17th district for Congress of the United States," said on television.

That's the district currently represented by Democratic Congressman Conor Lamb.

Parnell's candidacy was previewed by President Trump in Pittsburgh just last week.

"There's a guy named Sean Parnell who is a fantastic military man, brilliant, got everything going," said the President, "and I heard -- fellows, maybe my genius congressmen can tell me -- I hear that Sean Parnell is going to run against Conor Lamb."

On Fox & Friends, Parnell took the first shot.

"My opponent is Conor Lamb. He is a self-described moderate Democrat, but the truth of the matter is that he has voted in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi 98 percent of the time, and the policies that he's advocating for would be absolutely devastating for the people of western Pennsylvania."

So who is Sean Parnell?

Parnell is a frequent contributor on Fox News. He was an Army Ranger who earned a Purple Heart for service in battle. He wrote a New York Times best-selling book on his platoon's experience.

A father of three, Parnell lives in Cranberry just two miles north of the 17th district.

Parnell's entry into the race pits him against Lamb, a former Marine and federal prosecutor who defeated incumbent Republican Congressman Keith Rothfus by 12 points in 2018.
