PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — People traveling through downtown Pittsburgh for the Monday morning commute were faced with a partial closure of the busy Boulevard of the Allies.
It has been closed since Saturday afternoon when a water line broke. The road is shut down between Market and Wood Streets while crews make repairs.

The city is calling this a private lateral break. It’s a service line leak attached to the PPG building. A PPG contractor is responsible for the repairs, and that’s what workers were doing this morning, fixing the line.
Crews were hoping to bring in concrete around 4 a.m. to fill in a part of the road that was opened to fix the break.
Duquesne Light crews are also on scene. KDKA’s John Shumway reports they had a huge conduit that was damaged during the water main break.

There is good news though. Drivers now have access to the Wood-Allies parking garage. However, as of Tuesday, a reopening is at least three to four days out.
At this time, we don’t know what caused the break.
