Canonsburg Cancels Memorial Day Parade As Restrictions On Mass Gatherings Remain In Place

CANONSBURG (KDKA) - Canonsburg has canceled its Memorial Day Parade.

According to the mayor, canceling the parade was done with the best interest of the safety of the community in mind.

With large gatherings still prohibited locally, the borough decided to cancel the parade.

Borough officials say the pool will remain closed as well.

They released this statement:

"Canonsburg Borough has postponed the opening of Town Park Pool for the 2020 Season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This decision was reached based upon the limits imposed on social gatherings by Governor Tom Wolf. Under these procedures, it would be nearly impossible to operate the Pool in a manner that ensures the health and safety of the public. The Borough will continue to follow mandates provided by Governor Wolf and remains optimistic that future conditions and mandates will allow for the Pool to be opened this season."
