Pa. Health Dept. Announces 807 New Coronavirus Cases As Statewide Total Grows To 116,512

HARRISBURG (KDKA) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting 807 new cases of Coronavirus on Thursday, and 38 additional deaths.
The statewide total number of cases has risen to 116,512 since Wednesday's report.
Allegheny County is reporting an increase of 100 cases and three more deaths, and Philadelphia is reporting an increase of 112 cases.
The Health Department says all 67 counties in Pennsylvania have had cases of COVID-19. Current patients are either in isolation at home or being treated at the hospital.
The number of tests administered within the last seven days, between July 30 and Aug. 5, is 148,132 with 5,496 positive cases. There were 21,590 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m. on Aug. 5. These results represent the total number of tests administered.
The statewide death toll stands at 7,282.

State Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said in a news release, "As the state has put in place targeted mitigation efforts to offset recent case increases, we must renew our commitment to protecting against COVID-19 by wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and following the requirements set forth in the orders for bars and restaurants, gatherings and telework. Pennsylvania has been a model for the country on how to reopen effectively using a careful, measured approach. However, we know the virus has not gone away as we see cases rise, so we must work together to stop another surge."
Across the state, nearly 38% of the cases have been diagnosed in the 25-49 age group. That group continues to lead the age breakdown. The 65 or older age bracket has 24% of the cases, and the 50-64 age group has about 23% of the cases.
Here is the full age breakdown from the state:
• 1% are ages 0-4;
• 1% are ages 5-12;
• 3% are ages 13-18;
• 9% are ages 19-24;
• Nearly 38% are ages 25-49;
• Nearly 23% are ages 50-64; and
• 24% are ages 65 or older.
The following regions saw significant increases among 19- to 24-year-olds in each month from April to the end of July:
• SE – Nearly 5 percent of cases in April to approximately 19 percent of cases in July;
• SW – Approximately 5 percent of cases in April to nearly 18 percent of cases in July;
• NE – 6 percent of cases in April to nearly 17 percent of cases in July;
• SC – Approximately 7 percent of cases in April to approximately 14 percent of cases in July;
• NW – Nearly 7 percent of cases in April to nearly 14 percent of cases in July; and
• NC – Approximately 7 percent of cases in April to nearly 14 percent of cases in July.
The state health department numbers show there are 19,799 resident cases of COVID-19 in nursing and personal care homes across Pennsylvania. Among employees, there are 4,071 diagnosed cases. That brings the entire total to 23,870. Out of the total deaths across Pennsylvania, state officials say 4,943 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
Approximately 8,522 of the state's total cases are in health care workers.
Currently, all 67 counties are in the green phase of reopening. However, restrictions are in place for bars, restaurants and large gatherings.
