WEXFORD (KDKA) – A woman was bit a few times and lost a fingertip when trying to break up a dog fight on Saturday morning.

Police and medics were called to the North Park Dog Park just before 10:30 a.m. because of two dogs fighting and a couple of reported bites.

A couple was at the park with their dogs when another dog had begun biting one of theirs.

They attempted to break up the fight and ended up being bit themselves.

The male was treated at the scene for a bite to the thumb.

The woman, trying to pull at the attacking dog’s jaw, was bit a few times and the tip of one of her fingers was bit off.

She was taken to a local hospital, treated and released.

The owner of the dog that attacked them left the park in order to separate the dogs but spoke with police following the incident.
