A backorder on elementary school desks and technology has delayed the start of the year.

MARS, Pa. (KDKA) – Students in the Mars Area School District will get an extra week of summer break.

They were scheduled to report for the first day this upcoming Monday but it has since been pushed back to the next Tuesday, September 8.

According to the school board, the reason for the delay is waiting for elementary school desks and technology that is currently on backorder.
