MONACA (KDKA) – A smoke detector may have been a life-saver for a boy in Monaca on Tuesday night.

A home on Colonial Avenue had been seriously damaged by flames and a boy was inside playing video games when he heard the smoke detector going off, causing him to run outside, according to the fire chief.

The boy was on his own at his grandparent’s home at the time of the fire.
