PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Starting on Sunday, Nov. 1, boaters in Pennsylvania will have to wear a life jacket at all times.

The Fish and Boat Commission said falling into a cold river or lake can be life-threatening.

Of all boating deaths, 80% happen because boaters were not wearing life jackets.

The requirement ends on April 30.
