WHITEHALL, Pa. (KDKA) — A solemn goodbye for a local police chief who died.

Dozens of state and local police gathered Tuesday to honor J. William Schmitt, the retired Whitehall police chief. He served the community for 47 years.

After a procession from Slater Funeral Home on Brownsville Road, he was laid to rest.
