Police Investigating After 43-Year-Old Man Shot And Killed In Jeannette

JEANNETTE (KDKA) - Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Jeannette early Thursday morning.

The shooting happened near the intersection of North Seventh Street and Gaskill Avenue. Police said a 43-year-old man was killed.

"I looked out the window, and I saw a guy laying in the street," said Tim Long.

"Around 2:40, I heard four shots," he added.

Long lives across the street from where the shooting happened.

"There were two guys with hoods that ran down that way," Long said.

He said a neighbor, who is a nurse, ran from her home to help the victim.

"No movement. She felt for a pulse, went back on the porch and shook her head," Long said.

The shooting came days after gunfire injured two teens in the 100 block of Locust Street in Jeannette.

Long, who saw death up close in Vietnam, said he can't and won't accept seeing the same thing outside his front door. He has a message for those looking to open fire in his neighborhood again

"I want you to leave our neighborhood. Go away, you're not welcome here. Isn't there a better place to do your business? Take it somewhere else," Long said.
