MT. PLEASANT TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) - Officials are investigating after one person died in a Westmorland County house fire.

The fire broke out on Arbor Lane in Mt. Pleasant Township on Wednesday. The coroner's office confirmed that the deputy coroner was called to the fire at around 12:30 p.m. The victim was identified as 62-year-old Alisa Richwine.

Two neighbors called 911 after they noticed the flames.

"I was in my kitchen and walked back to my room and saw the entire porch was up in flames," said Logan McCormike.

The neighbor said within minutes, flames could be seen shooting out the windows and through the roof.

The Norvelt fire chief said because of how quickly the fire spread and hoarding inside the home, it was difficult for firefighters to get inside.

"The progression of the fire, already to the point the roof was already collapsing and the second floor was down on the first floor, made it almost impossible for the firemen to make entry," Chief Matthew Zelenak said.

Officials say the home was built in the 1800s and was the oldest home in the neighborhood.

The home is a total loss.
