Best Bowling Alleys Around Pittsburgh

Who doesn't like to bowl? According to the United States Bowling Congress' official website, 66 million people in the United States go bowling every year. In addition, over 2 million people participate regularly in USBC sanctioned leagues every year. With a plethora of bowling centers to pick from in our area there's something out there for everyone. Here's a list of some of the best bowling centers in western Pennsylvania!

Family Bowlaway

Family Bowlaway is a 40-lane center located near the Butler High School. USBC Coach Matt McCarthy noted that the facility will be hosting the 2012 Pennsylvania USBC Championship Tournament. In addition to the 40 certified Brunswick lanes, there is a snack bar with an extensive menu, pro shop and a bar. Every Wednesday night is karaoke night in the Spare Time Lounge. Family Bowlaway also hosts birthday parties for kids and recently added a laser tag area to expand upon their arcade. From glow bowling to league play there is something for everyone at Family Bowlaway.

McCarthy recommends Freeway Lanes' 32-lane center because of the local feel you get while there. There are adult leagues every night except for Sundays and kids leagues on Saturday mornings. Freeway Lanes is equipped with a full bar and snack bar. One of their most popular specials is the All-Night Bowling option that allows you to bowl for two-and-a-half hours for one low price. Arsenal Lanes is home to some of the best deals in town for adults.
Monday:
Service Industry Night – For $8 you can bowl all you want from 9 p.m. until midnight. At the bar, $1 drafts are served. For patrons who are 21-years-old and older.
Tuesday:
College Night – College students 21-years-old and over can enjoy 50 cent games and 50 cent drafts in addition to a cover charge.
Wednesday:
Rock 'n Bowl Night – For $8 you can bowl all you want from 9 p.m. until midnight and listen to a live local band perform. For patrons who are 21-years-old and older.
Thursday:
80's Night - For $8 you can bowl all you want from 9 p.m. until midnight and listen as DJ Swank Cat and The Mockster play jams from the 80's! For patrons who are 21-years-old and older.
Friday:
Karaoke Night – For $9.95 you can bowl all you want from 9 p.m. until midnight and listen to your friends attempt to sing some classic tunes. For patrons who are 21-years-old and older. The Meadows Casino is not only home to a horse racing track, slots and table games, but it also has a bowling alley! The 24-lane synthetic lane bowling center is open seven days a week and features a four-lane VIP suite. Their menu is rather extensive and includes appetizers, salads, pizza, sandwiches and more! There is also a full bar and lounge area and they host birthday parties for kids!

Funfest has something for everybody including 40 lanes, laser tag and many specials. Funfest was voted as Pittsburgh's Best Cosmic Bowling by Best of Pittsburgh Magazine. Patrons can enjoy their light and sound show as well as watch music videos and big games on four 12-foot screens over the lanes. Lokay Lanes features 20 lanes with a snack bar and the Pitt Stop Lounge. The center is open seven days a week and has several specials Family Fun Night - offered every night and includes two hours of unlimited bowling, shoe rental, large pizza and a pitcher of soda for $24.95. Ladies Day – offered on the third Thursday of every month. For $8 ladies can enjoy bowling, bingo, lunch and prizes! There is also leagues for all ages and Cosmic Bowling!

While it's not in the immediate Pittsburgh area, McCarthy recommends the facility for competitive bowlers due to its history of holding state and county tournaments recently. Keeping with that tradition, they will also be home to the 2011 Pennsylvania USBC Championship Tournament. The bowling center is also home to leagues for all ages. Splinters also includes a game room, pro shop and snack bar.
