Best Mommy & Me Classes In Pittsburgh

Mommy & Me classes can be a great way for parents and children to bond, learn something new or even explore a hobby, whether that be yoga, art, dance or just about anything else. Mommy & Me classes are offered in almost any area you can think of, with plenty being offered right here in Pittsburgh. Here are five you and your child definitely want to check out.

Yoga classes are probably one of the most common when it comes to Mommy & Me, and Pittsburgh's Schoolhouse Yoga is a great place for it. Their Mommy & Me yoga class "is designed to help new moms regain strength and flexibility (and sanity!) while connecting with other moms," and it's open for moms with children who are infants up through age three. If you're still waiting for your little one to arrive, you can also check out their Prenatal class. Schoolhouse Yoga also has multiple locations for you to attend. Introduce your child to the art of ballet with Pittsburgh Ballet Theater's Grown-up & Me class, part of their Children's Division. The class is for children ages 18-24 months and helps children "explore the world of dance through movement, music and rhythm." For a variety of programs for you and your child, check out the Carnegie Library, which features Baby and Me programs 20-30 minutes in length. Most upcoming events are interactive storytime sessions for newborns up to children aged 18 months, with events taking place at the library's various locations. If you're a music lover, the Kindermusik program at Kathy's Music has plenty of classes for you to choose from, covering a variety of age groups. Learn lullabies for your baby in Kindermusik, use song and dance to teach walking and vocal development to your child under two, or try Cuddle & Bounce with a baby up to a year old. Classes are 45 minutes long and meet once a week, with monthly tuition costing $57. Classes run during the school year, from September through May, but you can enroll at any time. Kathy's Music also offers classes for children up to age seven, including some classes with sibling and parent involvement for the last 15 minutes.

You don't have to be a member of Pittsburgh's Jewish Community Center to enjoy their numerous My Baby and Me classes, some of which are even free, like their Sing and Schmooze classes, which include singing, fingerplays, activities and a discussion led by a developmental specialist. Other classes include yoga, motor skills and music. Class prices vary, although members do get a lower rate.
