Live music is always awesome to see and makes for a really great night out. And while we all love to go see our favorite musicians, cover bands can be just as fun--and plenty of Pittsburgh-area venues host them, whether you want to relive the days of disco or live vicariously through a tribute band performing the hits of a long-gone act you never had the chance to see. From casinos to local bars, here are some of the best places to catch cover bands in Pittsburgh. And please, no yelling, "Freedbird!"

Byham Theater
101 6th St.
Pittsburgh, PA 15222
(412) 456-6666
www.culturaldistrict.org

Though the Byham generally hosts theater productions, the venue has seen its fair share of other entertainment, from comedians to musicians--and of course, that includes a healthy dose of cover bands. Upcoming performances include the Red Hot Chili Pipers, who fuse traditional Scottish bagpipes with rock music, covering such classic-rock hits as "Don't Stop Believin'," "Highway to Hell," "Fat Bottomed Girls," and more. The 1,300-seat theater is located in the city's Cultural District.

Club Cafe
56 S. 12th St.
Pittsburgh, PA 15203
(412) 431-4950

The South Side's Club Cafe has become a staple in the Pittsburgh music scene, hosting both local and national touring acts, as well as weekly open-mic nights. Their schedule--which features live music every single night--often includes cover bands, too, such as the upcoming Talking Dreads show, a band combining the music of the Talking Heads with reggae styles.

Hard Rock Cafe
230 W. Station Square Dr.
Pittsburgh, PA 15219
(412) 481-7625

Though the Hard Rock Cafe franchise is known as a restaurant chain featuring music memorabilia, they also host plenty of live shows, from battles of the bands to some great tribute shows. Pittsburgh's Hard Rock has been, well, rocking all summer, with tributes to such iconic musicians as Bruce Springsteen. While no cover bands are currently scheduled for the month, be sure to check back to catch a tribute to your favorite musician.

Casinos aren't just fun for gambling and great buffets--they also host plenty of live entertainment, most notably cover bands and tribute acts. Rivers Casino is no exception. They've previously hosted local favorite Dancing Queen, who play a number of hits spanning decades, as well as other beloved cover bands. Keep an eye on their schedule to see what's coming next.

Meadows Casino
210 Racetrack Rd.
Washington, PA 15301

Like Rivers Casino, The Meadows also features a good lineup of cover bands, only you'll have to head out of the city and into nearby Washington to catch them. Also like Rivers, the Meadows hosted Dancing Queen earlier this summer, as well as other local favorite No Bad Ju Ju. Upcoming events include an Abba tribute band and more No Bad Ju Ju.
