These are truly the longest days of the year, and I'm pleased to report we have LOTS of ways to fill those days with free and affordable fun! Step back in time and enjoy this affordable old fashioned Country Ice Cream Social. Years ago, these socials allowed for the opportunity to relax the social code and visit with friends and neighbors. For the cost of general admission, you can partake in free ice cream and lemonade. This year, they're featuring a "Fleece to Shawl" demonstration, where sheep fleece will be spun into yarn and then woven into a shawl, all in the space of an afternoon! All other museum fun will be going on as well, depicting life back in the 18th century.

Now in its 15th year, the WYEP Summer Music Festival is practically a Pittsburgh tradition signaling the true start of summer. Spread out on the Schenley Park lawn and listen to some fabulous music! This year's lineup includes Donora at 6 p.m. (I've heard them live - so fun!), Great Lake Swimmers at 7:10 p.m., Sharon Van Etten at 8:25 p.m. and Dr. Dog at 9:45 p.m. Family fun starts at 4 p.m. with great activities for the kids, plus I Made It! Market will be on hand showcasing great local art, craft, jewelry, clothing and so much more. Oh yeah, and it's absolutely FREE to attend and enjoy!
