Snow Day Scenario: Bowling Alley Amusement In Pittsburgh

By Heather Wampler

It's always tough trying to think of things to do with the kids or at least finding something the 3-year-old and the 12-year-old will like. There aren't many things out there that can appeal to a wide range of age groups. Especially when snow is covering the ground and school has been canceled for days. Usually someone ends up bored or thinks that the activity is "lame." Well, there is something that may not be the coolest thing to do, but it is fun whether you're 3 or 73.

Brunswick. My top pick.

This particular bowling alley brings back a flood of memories starting in elementary school. It was the local bowling alley that my friends and I would go to. It's where the "cool" birthday parties were held at and it always made for a cheap and fun family night out with mom and my brother. We would be able to bowl for hours, get pitchers of soda and an entire pizza or whatever other snack we wanted from the concession stand. As the years progressed the alley transformed. Today, it is no longer the simple bowling alley of my childhood. Now, they have major leagues, a very nice bar with pool tables, they still have birthday parties, bumper lanes and that wonderful concession stand.

Of course, if you're not in the mood for bowling alley food, right down the road is Bill's Golfland. It's a mall restaurant that has been in Rostraver longer than I've been alive. It offers a variety of eats, treats and fun times.
