WVU Ticket Sales Slower Than Expected
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia Mountaineers announced on Tuesday, tickets for the Champs Sports Bowl were slower than expected. First day tickets sales for WVU's Dec. 28 game against North Carolina State were about 2,800 tickets. The school was allotted 12,500 for the game, but they do expect to sell it out.
Tickets for the bowl game are priced at $65.
Last year, WVU sold more than 12,000 tickets to the Gator Bowl against Florida State in less than three hours.
WVU spokesman Matt Wells says last year's bowl game was on New Year's Day, while the Christmas holiday factors into travel to this year's game in Orlando, Fla.
