Local Doctor Charged With Indecent Assault

WEXFORD (KDKA) -- A local doctor is facing charges.

Northern Regional Police has charged 53-year-old Dr. Thomas Allen Tyma with indecent assault.

Tyma lives in Franklin Park and until recently practiced medicine at Allegheny North Arthritis Center in Pine Township.

Earlier this month, he was charged with indecently assaulting a 31-year-old female patient in his office.

Now Northern Regional Police have charged him in the alleged assault of four additional female patients.

In the case of the 31-year-old patient, the woman told police Dr. Tyma fondled her during an exam for back and hip arthritis.

According to an affidavit, the woman said Dr. Tyma told her to lie on a table so he could hear her heartbeat with a stethoscope.

The woman said Tyma ran his hand up her sweater and fondled her breast for 10 seconds.

Police initially arrested the doctor at his clinic on Jan. 11. He is free on bond pending a hearing before District Justice Regis Welsh on Feb. 11.
