Port Authority Buses Collide, 6 Injured

OAKLAND (KDKA) – Six people were injured in an accident involving two Port Authority buses Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Thackeray Street in Oakland.

KDKA's Ross Guidotti reported that one bus slid into the back of the other after hitting some ice on a steel plate in the road.

The steel plates are covering work being done on the roadway.

The six people were transported to local hospitals for treatment, but the injuries are not life-threatening.

One of the injured people is a pregnant woman. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

As a result of the accident, the intersection was closed for about an hour.

One bus suffered minor damage, while the other was put back into service.
