Fort Allen Neighbors Prepared To Start Over

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Newlyweds who planned to move into their recently-purchased home on Fosterville Road in the Fort Allen section of Hempfield Township now have to make other arrangements.

The tornado that barreled through the neighborhood ripped off their roof, making the home uninhabitable.

"We were going to move in here this weekend, so we never got a chance to," Jason Dillie said. "Now we have to rebuild but we just got in the basement down there. It seems live everything's okay down there, so just thank God for that."

Looking at all the damage and debris, they had one consolation.

"They should have been here that night and they ended up staying overnight at our house or they would have been here," Rita Dillie, Jason's mother, said. "I said, 'Thank you Lord!'"

Courtney Ansell's house has been condemned.

"Nobody's allowed in it," she said. "It's structurally unsound and so they're probably going to have to build it back up from the foundation which they said could take anywhere between six to eight months."

Donna Ross was surprised at what didn't happen to her house. She had some wall damage, but her prize teapot collection was untouched.
