PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – During a February 2002 standoff with an armed fugitive in Homewood, then Pittsburgh Police Chief Dom Costa was shot. The bullet nearly took his life; to this day, it is still lodged in the base of his brain.

Now a state representative, Dom Costa talks to KDKA Radio’s Larry and John about Officer James Kuzak, who was shot while responding to a home invasion call in Clairton and is currently in a medically induced coma.

Dom relates his story of being shot, as well as why officers are in more danger then ever when on duty.
