Pitt Hires Bill Barton

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Pitt basketball is making more news today as they've found a replacement for Pat Skerry.

Bill Barton is coming back to Western Pennsylvania.

KDKA-TV Sports has confirmed that Jamie Dixon will name Barton as the replacement for Skerry. We believe Pitt will make the official announcement on Monday.

Barton spent this past season as an assistant with Marshall. Prior to that, he spent 3 seasons with Ron Everhart and the Duquesne Dukes.

Barton has the reputation as one of the top recruiters on the East coast. He helped Everhart land a 2008-09 recruiting class rated 28th in the nation by Hoop Scoop.

Barton came to the Dukes' program from Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass., where he led the basketball program to back-to-back Prep School National Championships in 2005-06 and 2006-07. Barton posted a 255-66 record in winning nearly 80 percent of his games against the top prep programs in the nation while at Notre Dame Prep.

Barton recruited some big-time talent to Notre Dame Prep like: Michael Beasley, Paul Harris, Ryan Gomes and Lazar Hayward.
