Death Threats Made Against Injured Clairton Police Officer

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- As Clairton Police Officer Jim Kuzak continues to recover after being shot in the line of duty, there's a new concern.

Someone has made several death threats against him.

Multiple sources have told KDKA-TV that security for Kuzak has been beefed up because of those threats.

One source tells KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti there was no caller ID on either of those incoming calls, but investigators continue efforts to trace them.

Since Kuzak was shot three times and critically wounded on April 4, the 22-member Clairton police force, supplemented by officers from other area departments, have been working around the clock, helping to provide security for Kuzak as he recuperates in the hospital.

Now those security measures are being tightened.

Kuzak, 39, was on the job in Clairton only a couple weeks ago when he was shot three times responding to a home invasion call on Miller Avenue.

He was wounded in the shoulder, side and right forearm.
