Vocational School Responds To Teacher's Arrest

JEFFERSON HILLS (KDKA) - The Steel Center Area Vocational Technical School in Jefferson Hills is responding to the arrest of its assistant director, who is accused of sexually assaulting minors.

Leslie Smith is accused of having sex with two young girls when they were 11 and 13-years-old.

According to police, Smith has confessed to the abuse.

On Saturday, the school issued a statement about the investigation.

"The Steel Center administration is thoroughly investigating this matter, and will take prompt and appropriate action as permitted and required by law towards termination. None of the charges involve any conduct on school property, during school hours, or at school events," the statement said.

Smith remains suspended without pay.

The school said the charges do not involve any students who currently attend the school.
