Pittsburgh (KDKA)- The Pirates will open up a 3-game series with the Detroit Tigers without Pedro Alvarez in the starting lineup.

No official word on why he’s not starting but you’d have to think it’s an injury.

In fact, when Alvarez scored the final run in yesterday’s game, I noticed a look on Alvarez’s face as he was rounding third base.

To me, it looked like he pulled/strained something as he was running home.

Manager Clint Hurdle is replacing Alvarez with Brandon Wood.
