Pirates/Braves Gameday Notes

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Great pitching matchup tonight over at PNC Park as Charlie Morton (5-1, 2.62 ERA) takes on Jair Jurrjens (5-1, 1.80 ERA).

PIRATES GAMEDAY NOTES:
*Pirates have gone 10-9 in their last 19 games and have gone 14-13 since dropping three straight in Florida from April 19-21....

*Pirates were 20-26 after 46 games last year

*Evan Meek was recalled from his rehab assignment and placed on the active roster. To make room for him, the Pirates optioned left-handed pitcher Daniel Moskos to AAA Indianapolis

*The Pirates have gone 8-5 against the Braves at PNC Park the last three years (2008-2010)

*In his first eight starts, Charlie Morton has recorded 77.8% of his outs via a ground ball, which ranks first in the Majors.

*Pittsburgh's starters have gone 4-1 with a 1.60 ERA in the last five games....

*Second baseman Neil Walker comes into tonight's game with 16 RBI this month, which is tied for fourth among all National League players.....The only players to drive in more runs this month are Cincinnati's Jay Bruce (19) and San Diego's Ryan Ludwich and Florida's Gaby Sanchez, who have 17 apiece.

*This month Pittsburgh has posted a .989 fielding percentage (eight errors in 719 total chances), which ranks eighth in the Majors and fifth in the National League.

*Leadoff hitter Andrew McCutchen has gone 12-for-31 (.387) with three doubles, two triples, a home run, five RBI and seven runs scored in his last nine games.

*In the last 13 games played at PNC Park, Pittsburgh pitchers have produced a 2.29 ERA and have held opposing teams to two earned runs or less 10 times in those 13 games......

*Ronny Cedeno has hit safely in 18 of his last 21 games, going 22-for-66 (.333)...His .333 average during the month of May is the highest among all NL shortstops.....Ronny also has seven hits in his last 15 at-bats with runners in scoring position.
