Pregnant Woman Accused Of Fatally Stabbing Boyfriend

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A pregnant woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend has surrendered to Pittsburgh police.

Ashley Wilson, 23, is facing a criminal homicide charge in the death of Marquis White.

The incident happened at their Hill District apartment in the 400-block of Grove Street on May 22.

According to investigators, it all started when Wilson found a picture of a naked woman on White's computer.

When she asked him about it, he said he didn't know who it was. The argument escalated and turned physical.

At one point, Wilson went into the kitchen and grabbed "a cheap Family Dollar knife," according to the criminal complaint.

White died from his injuries at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Officials say he was stabbed in the chest.

Defense attorney Phil DiLucente said Wilson was defending herself when the stabbing happened. He also says his client, who is seven months pregnant with White's child, had bruises all over her body.

"My client has bruises all over her body," said DiLucente. "She wanted to do a lot of things for his family because she was close with them; she wasn't able to do that and this has been just really an awful situation. There was no intent on my client's part whatsoever, just truly self-defense."

Police say they wanted to confer with the district attorney's office about what charges to file. Wilson surrendered to police late Tuesday afternoon because they issued a warrant for her arrest.
