Fire Breaks Out While Family Moves In
CRAFTON HEIGHTS (KDKA) -- A fire broke out inside of an apartment in Crafton Heights while a family was trying to move in.
A woman and her two children left briefly to get more furniture and returned to find the fire at their apartment in the 1400-block of Crafton Boulevard.
"The first company on the scene made the fire attack," Pittsburgh Fire Chief Larry Yakich said. "They found the fire right in the doorway there, knocked it down. We ventilated and we were lucky on that one."
The other units were evacuated as well.
The family was too distraught to talk on camera. The flames destroyed nearly all of their belongings.
"I feel real bad because they lost everything almost, so, I just hope everything goes well," Sharon Martin, a tenant, said.
She was able to return to her apartment. Two other families in the eight-unit building were not able to return home.
