Another Chance For Showers, Storms Today

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- While the day started off with some sunshine, there a chance that the Pittsburgh-area could see yet another round of showers and thunderstorms into the evening hours.

KDKA's Jon Burnett says temperatures will reach into the mid-80s with the chance for wet weather in the afternoon and evening.

"Some of this activity may be on the heavy to severe side with damaging winds, lots of cloud-to-ground lightning, torrential downpours and small hail possible," said Burnett. "Most of that activity would come between 3 and 8 p.m. tonight; then things will start to quiet down after sunset and end all together by midnight."

On Sunday, Burnett says things will clear out and calm down with a high of 75 degrees.

"That energy will shift off to our east later on tonight and then we'll clear out as we head through the overnight hours," he added. "I think [Sunday] will be a great day, and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday look good too as a ridge of high pressure builds in and locks up the good weather right here in the mid-Atlantic for the foreseeable future, but not today."

As for the beginning of the work week, highs are expected to stay in the mid-70 with clear conditions, and then warm into the 80s by Wednesday.
