Casting For 'Batman' Extras To Continue This Weekend

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - When Pittsburgh turns into Gotham City this summer for filming of the new Batman movie, local people hope their face will be in the crowd.

Thousands of people attended a casting call this weekend so they can get their shot at fame.

"It's a beautiful city for a beautiful movie," Aaron Bova said.

"The Dark Knight Rises" is Christopher Nolan's next installment in the latest Batman series.

Anthony Dorsey was the first in line this past weekend.

"From 5:30 a.m., it was 10 people. And at 6:30 a.m., it shot out this way, which flanked around the building," Dorsey said.

The ballroom at the Omni William Penn Hotel is the place where dreams are made. Casting directors sized up possible extras, with stars in their eyes and patience in spades.

While no extras are being hired on the spot, it's more of a "don't call us, we'll call you" event.

However, it's still nice to dream.

If you missed your chance last weekend, they're going to do it all over again this weekend.

But, there are some things you need to know:

  • You have to give them your schedule for the next few months
  • You have to give them your shoe size
  • You have to give them your jacket size

Here's the casting call information:

  • Omni William Penn Hotel
  • Downstairs in the William Penn Ballroom
  • Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Don't forget to bring a photo ID
  • You must be 18 or older
