Police Investigating Explosion At Fayette Co. Business

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) - Police are investigating an overnight explosion at a Fayette County tire company.

The blast blew out the windows of Schiffbauer Tire on East Fayette Street in Uniontown around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Police are reviewing surveillance video of the explosion.

A shadowy figure can be seen running away from the building moments before the blast.

Another camera shows chairs in the lobby disappearing in a cloud of smoke and glass.

The explosion broke the front door and blew out the front windows of the business.

Police said it's very early in the investigation, but they are being assisted by several other agencies.

"The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and State Police Records and Identification unit were notified and responded to the scene. We have some witnesses that live nearby that did indicate that they did hear some type of explosion," Uniontown Police Chief Jason Cox said.

There are no reported injuries.
