PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- The Pirates made a surprising roster move in hopes of sparking their struggling offense.

Today, the Pirates have optioned infielder Josh Harrison to Triple-A Indianapolis and will recall infielder Chase d’Arnaud (pronounced “dar-NO”).

A subsequent move to make room on the 40-man roster for d’Arnaud will also be made on Friday.

I’m questioning why Harrison was demoted instead of Pedro Ciriaco, considering Harrison can play third and second base.

I’m told that d’Arnaud has been playing some third base lately for Indianapolis, so, it’s likely he’ll platoon with Brandon Wood.

The 24-year-old right-handed hitter was batting .280 with Indianapolis with four HR and 33 RBI.
