Man Charged After Allegedly Threatening Wife With Garden Tool

AMBRIDGE (KDKA) — A Beaver County man is facing charges after allegedly threatening his wife with a garden tool and destroying her living room.

Fred Poore II, 51, is facing charges of aggravated assault and simple assault.

"The victim was clearly upset, scared, she was crying," Ambridge Police Officer Brad Davis said.

Jacqueline Poore told police her husband had been on a three-day drinking binge.

"And started to tear the house up," Davis explained. "Got to the point to where he allegedly picked up a garden hoe went at her with it and then threatened to kill her."

Police were called to Jacquline Poore's 19th Street home in Ambridge on Tuesday afternoon to take her husband into custody.

Officer Davis said Poore was "highly intoxicated."

"I mean, when we went into the house, we could smell the alcohol in the air," he described.

Days before, police say he threatened his wife with the garden tool. She ran into the basement to hide from him. At some point she got hold of her husband's cell phone and called her daughter.

"And her daughter came down and in turn called police," Davis said.

The couple is separated. Fred Poore lives around the corner on 18th Street. It was his wife's house that he tore apart.

Poore is in the Beaver County Jail. He's charged with assault with a garden hoe.

His wife was not hurt.
