PITTSBURGH (Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN) — The Pittsburgh Tribune Review’s Dejan Kovacevic  joins Seibel, Starkey, and Miller to talk about the moves the Pirates need to make before the upcoming trade deadline.

Dejan Kovacevic says the Pirates absolutely need to go out and get someone moving forward as the trade deadline quickly approaches.  He says when the team delivers, it is up to the front office to do their very best to help out Clint Hurdle and the players.

Dejan Kovacevic says the idea when it comes to a trade is to upgrade the positions that are struggling, most notably first base and right field.  Since the All-Star Break, there have only been 5 RBI’s produced by those two positions.  He says Overbay, Jones, and Diaz are all tradable.

Kovacevic ends the conversation by previewing the upcoming series in Philadelphia, saying it is very possible for them to take 2 of 3 again and says he is at the point of no longer putting expectations on what the Pirates can do this season.
