Man Killed In Lincoln Crash Possible Hit-And-Run Victim

LINCOLN BOROUGH (KDKA) -- Allegheny County Police say a man who died after a car accident may have been the victim of a hit-and-run.

Alshun Moore, 29, of McKeesport, was killed in the 2500-block of Lincoln Boulevard in Lincoln Borough at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

For two days, his family thought he died in a fiery crash in his SUV, but Wednesday morning, they learned there's much more to the investigation.

"I'm hoping they catch the guy that did this 'cause we thought he died from a car accident and it wasn't," Tammy Moore, the victim's mother, said.

There were two people inside Moore's vehicle which flipped.

"Both of those occupants either extracted themselves or were ejected – we're not sure which – and one of them ended up in the southbound lane of travel where he was subsequently struck by a passing motorist," Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said.

Police say it's possible the driver didn't know he hit someone, but a witness reports seeing a truck traveling away from the scene at a high rate of speed.

Finding the person behind the wheel won't bring Alshun back, but his mom said it will bring some closure.

"Alshun was the best person in the world – kindhearted," she said. "He would do anything for anybody. He loved his kids. He was just a family person – loved friends – he just loved life."

Moore leaves behind 6-year-old twin girls. His cousin, Terrence Moore, the second person in the SUV, is recovering at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

County police are looking for a red pickup truck with an extended cab.
