Gerrit Cole Seeking Record Money

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- The Pittsburgh Pirates have four more days to try to sign 2011 No. 1 pick RHP Gerrit Cole.

How much is it going to take to sign him? Is he looking for Stephen Strasburg-type money?

Jon Heyman of CNNSI.com is reporting that Cole wants something close to Strasburg's record deal of $15.067 million.

Considering he was the No. 1 overall pick and has Scott Boras advising him, Cole is going to get a ton of money.

Tim Williams of Piratesprospects.com believes that Cole will receive David Price-type money.

Back in 2007, Price was the No. 1 overall pick and received a $8.5 million deal, with a $5.6 million signing bonus.

Keep in mind that Cole's teammate Trevor Bauer (No. 3 overall pick) has already signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He received a deal worth $7.4 million with a $3.5 M bonus.
