Penguins Add 300 Seats To CONSOL Energy Center

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Penguins have added more seating to the CONSOL Energy Center for the upcoming season.

According to a press release from the team, 300 seats have been added, which raises the total number of seats to 18,387.

The Penguins also announced that they will cap season ticket sales at 15,000 for the 2011-12 season.

Pittsburgh has sold out 210 straight games. The addition of the new seats will allow the Penguins to continue to offer Student Rush and group tickets, while reserving over 2,000 seats for single-game sales per game.

"We have renewed our season tickets at 99 percent, which shows the phenomenal support of our fans, and our season ticket waiting list has grown to more than 9,000 – but we still want to make sure that tickets are available for fans who want to purchase single games, as well as to groups, students and youth hockey organizations," Pittsburgh Penguins President and CEO David Morehouse said in a statement.

Tickets for the upcoming season will go on sale in September and the Penguins' regular season home opener will take place on Oct. 11 against the Florida Panthers.
