PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A cool front will set off scattered thunderstorms across the area today.

According to KDKA meteorologist Dennis Bowman, some of these storms could be strong with heavy downpours and hail. There will be intervals of clouds and sun from time to time as well.

The high will reach 84 degrees this afternoon.

Bowman says local residents should be prepared for ponding of water on the roads and lightning.

The storms will end during the evening as we settle in with mostly cloudy skies. The low will go down to near 60.

For the weekend, Bowman say we can expect a mix of sun and clouds for Saturday with a high of 85 degrees.

Clouds will increase Saturday night ahead of the next cold front. We can expect scattered thunderstorms back in the area for late Saturday night and into the day on Sunday.
