Website Helps Travelers Save Hundreds

BOSTON (CBS) – A new website based in Massachusetts is helping travelers save hundreds of dollars on their trips.

The only thing Ashley Gutermuth of Somerville, Mass.  likes better than traveling, is getting a deal on traveling.

She recently saved a great deal of money on a recent trip to Las Vegas.

"I kind of feel like I hit the mother load," Gutermuth said.

She found a hotel room just one block off the strip for about $86 a night. Everything else in the area was around $150.

Gutermuth used www.sniqueaway.com to book her hotel room. It's a members only website based in Charlestown, Mass. that offers substantial savings on hotel rooms around the world.

She is now using the site to find a place to stay on a trip she's planning to Washington, D.C.

David Krauter, the director of the website, said members can go to incredible resorts that they might not otherwise be able to afford.

"We feature hotels that are up to 50 percent off" Krauter said. "We've had sales in Thailand, Fiji. We've had hotels in New York and San Francisco."

Recent offerings include tropical retreats and major American cities.

Krauter advises clients to act fast if they see something they like.

"On www.sniqueaway.com, our sales last seven days, and we're turning hotels over every week," Krauter said.

To really take advantage of their sales, it is helpful to rethink your approach to traveling.

Instead of picking a destination and then finding a room, you can choose one of their destinations as your building block.

"One of the things we've heard from members is that we help motivate them to really travel to places they've never been to before," Krauter said.

Although the site is free, you do have to be referred by a friend to become a member.
