Skateboarding Teen Crashes Into SUV
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition at Children's Hospital after an accident in West Newton.
The Yough High School freshman suffered a severe head injury.
"I just heard … a loud noise and whenever I came out, he was just laying there, like not even moving," Marissa Crissman, a neighbor, said. "He was really badly hurt."
The accident happened just before 6 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Second and Cross streets.
"From what I understand, he came down this field here on a skateboard and plowed right into the side of the gentleman's pickup truck," West Newton Volunteer Fire Chief Craig Sanner said.
First responders say skateboarding in that area has been a problem recently. The boy's name has not been released.
