Big Deals Expected For Cyber Monday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Black Friday can offer some amazing deals, but if you can't deal with the crowds, or don't feel like going to the stores, you can still cash in on Cyber Monday.

The deals on Cyber Monday might be even better than Black Friday because you can actually earn money by buying online.

Black Friday deals are tempting, but the mayhem is not.

On Cyber Monday, you can shop in the quiet of your own home and easily compare prices.

"There's also more opportunity to scout and compare prices when online. You can look at bunch of stores and prices and not have to drive to different stores," Andria Alexander said.

Alexander, who founded SimplyFrugalLiving.com, said there are several sites that do the comparing for you.

Yahoo Shopping, FatWallet.com, PriceGrabber and NexTag all compare prices of specific items.

For example, at Yahoo Shopping, KDKA-TV's Kristine Sorensen searched for an i-Pad 2.

The search found it's selling for $499 to $850, with Walmart at $499.

After you find the lowest price, then you can often find online coupons, called promo codes.

Certain websites are devoted to that, including RetailMeNot. You can also just do a Google search for the store name and promo code.

However, the biggest deal you can get online that you can't get in the actual stores is cash back.

Websites like Ebates and ShopAtHome actually give you money back, just for going through their website to shop.

For example, on Ebates, you can get seven percent back from Old Navy and Sephora, eight percent at the Disney Store and15 percent at Kodak Gallery.

Then, they send you a check four times a year with the money you earned.

For example, say you want to buy that i-Pad 2 on sale at Walmart.

Instead of going directly to the Walmart site, go to Ebates or Shop At Home and sign up for free.

On Ebates, you get $10 just for signing up until the middle of December.

Then, search "Walmart" and click on the icon to get to Walmart's website.

"Ebates, Shop At Home, they will also provide coupon codes, promo codes, so you want to stack as many of those as possible," Alexander said.

At $499, the four percent cash back on e-bates gets you $20 back. At six percent on Shop At Home, you get $30 back.

It's worth comparing those sites too.

"There's nothing more you have to do, shop as you would on the site. But, if you go back to Ebates account, it takes a few days, but credit will be given in your account," Alexander said.

On Cyber Monday, many stores will be offering double or triple cash back.

Most retailers are expected to offer free shipping on Cyber Monday as well.

A lot of retailers won't announce their hottest Cyber Monday deals until after Black Friday, so check this weekend and Monday morning.

Bloggers like Alexander will be scouring the sites to find those hot items for Cyber Monday.
