PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — No. 23 West Virginia (9-3) has accepted an invite to the Orange Bowl as the Big East champion and will play Atlantic Coast Conference champion No. 15 Clemson (10-3).

The game will be played at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 4 in Miami.

“It’s just really an exciting opportunity for the West Virginia University football program to be able to go the Discover Orange Bowl for the first time,” West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen said. “I think we’ve been in three BCS games in the last five years, but it’s the first time that we’ve been able to go to South Florida, which is an important recruiting territory for us.”

The Mountaineers benefited from winning a three-way tiebreaker of final BCS ranking with Louisville and Cincinnati in the Big East. WVU finished 23rd in the BCS.
