Pedestrian Struck In Bellevue

BELLEVUE (KDKA) -- A male pedestrian was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car in Bellevue.

The accident happened on Ohio River Boulevard near the McDonald's.

The vehicle that struck him was traveling in the southbound lane.

The victim was taken to Allegheny General Hospital with severe head injuries.

The man was struck by a 26-year-old woman from McKees Rocks. She was behind the wheel of a minivan.

"The light was green – I didn't see nobody out in front of me – he just stepped out at the last split second," she told KDKA-TV.

"I tried to swerve around him to the left and he just stopped in the middle of the intersection and it didn't give me enough time, enough space to even avoid him completely."

The driver says the pedestrian hit her windshield.

"I stopped and he kind of fell off and I pulled over to see if he was okay. I called 911, paramedics came by. The cops came out. Everybody checked out my story and it coincided with everything I said," she added.
