Overnight Crash In South Huntingdon Twp. Leaves Driver Dead

SOUTH HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- One person is dead following an accident overnight in Westmoreland County.

The one-vehicle crash happened in the 400-block of Greensburg Pike near Sportsmans Road in South Huntingdon Township.

The Westmoreland County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 36-year-old Erik Povisils of West Newton. He was pronounced dead at the scene just before 3:30 a.m.

According to the coroner's office, Povisils was headed eastbound on Greensburg Pike when his vehicle crossed the center line and went off the roadway. The vehicle went over an embankment, rolled over and hit a tree.

Povisils was ejected from the car, officials said.

The coroner's office reports that he died from blunt force trauma to the head, neck and chest.
