Last-Minute Shoppers Flock To Stores

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - When it comes to holiday shopping, everyone has their own pace.

Some have to get it done early, while others can't help but wait until the last minute to get those gifts under the Christmas tree.

For them, that moment came and went on Christmas Eve.

Most of the stores closed early to give employees a chance to spend time with their families on Christmas Eve,

The Target on McKnight Road was open after many others had closed and shoppers were glad to see it still open.

"I would have been in a lot of trouble. Well, I wouldn't have been in trouble. I just would have felt really bad," Nikki Murray said.

It happens every Christmas Eve as some shoppers push their shopping to the final moments.

So, why do people procrastinate?

"We forgot someone," Eric Mozetti said.

Others blamed time, or the lack of it.

"My work schedule. I work full-time, plus I work weekend nights too plus full-time. So, I had no time to go Christmas shopping at all," Keela Snider said.

Other people were just being Good Samaritans.

"We realized that my sister's mother-in-law was going to be joining us for Christmas by surprise and we wanted to get her something so we weren't the only ones opening presents," Sunshine McIntyre said.

Some said they waited until the last minute to get good deals on gifts. Others said it was the thrill of the hunt, but everyone always says they'll do better next year.
