Large Tree Nearly Topples Into Pleasant Hills Home

PLEASANT HILLS (KDKA) - A man claims high winds knocked down a huge tree, which came inches from crashing into his house in Pleasant Hills.

However, this isn't the first time this family has had troubles with trees in the past year.

Steve Buchheit said his daughter was at their home on Crestview Drive in Pleasant Hills when she heard the wind picking up today.

That's when she heard a massive crash. She looked out the back window and saw the tree.

"Oh we are definitely lucky it fell lengthwise and not crosswise to the house, or this way on our neighbor's house. Because if it would have fallen this way this house would've really been crushed," Buchheit said. "The root ball is what's amazing, there's no roots to it. I don't understand how the tree didn't fall years ago."

It's only been three months since the family fixed the damage from the last tree that fell on their house.

That crash cost the family tens of thousands of dollars.
