Man Robs Restaurant, Claims Split Personality Is To Blame

LEECHBURG (KDKA) – A man claims his split personality is to blame for robbing a Chinese restaurant in Leechburg Sunday night.

Timothy Beer, 23, walked into the China King Restaurant Sunday night and placed an order.

"When I come back, he just showed the knife, wanted money," Ricky Guo, the restaurant owner, said.

Guo handed over $60. He said his main concern was getting the robber out of his restaurant. He then immediately called the police.

Beer turned himself in to police Tuesday night and confessed to the crime. He claims to have split personalities and says he did not realize he had held up the China King until he read about it in the newspaper.

Beer told police he does remember ordering food and becoming angry because Guo was speaking Chinese around him. According to authorities, the next thing he remembers was playing video games at his cousin's home.

Beer is currently being held in the Armstrong County Jail on $75,000 bond.
