Teen Accused In Fatal Crash Rejects Plea, To Stand Trial

WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- A teenager charged in connection with a vehicle crash in Washington County last year that claimed the life of two brothers has rejected a plea deal and will stand trial.

On Wednesday, a judge said blood alcohol evidence and speed evidence from a black box would be admitted if 19-year-old Stormy Hunter's case went to trial.

Nikolas and Alex Mercolini were killed last February in the deadly crash on Interstate 79 in North Strabane Township

The judge gave Hunter until today to decide whether she wanted to go to trial or agree to a plea.

Prosecutors say the defense has never expressed any interest in a plea.

"There was no specific offer that was made; it was whether or not she would entertain an offer, which she indicated she would not," said Chad Schneider, the prosecutor.

Jury selection for Hunter's jury trial is now scheduled for April.
